I was not anxious to work up this issue, but the problem was not going away. The (SCCC) had decided to bring the (‘blood-debt’) to a head, and as I was planning to hold elections just before Malaysia Day, I had to press its demand, whatever the consequences in terms of Japanese investment.

我不想炒热这个课题，但是这个问题挥之不去。由于我计划在马来西亚成立前举行大选，中华总商会决意把追讨“血债”追究到底，我必须顺应他们的要求，不管日本投资会出现什么后果。
