From Classrooms to Coastlines: NIM students Making Waves in Beach Cleanup

從教室到海岸線：NIM學生在海灘清理中掀起波瀾！

What a meaningful morning we had today! The sky was gloomy and despite the rain, that didn』t stop our spirits of 「From Classrooms to Coastlines: NIM students Making Waves in Beach Cleanup」mentality, our students participated in the Blue Ripple community service hosted by PAssion Wave @ East Coast, as part of Project Blue WaVe.

我們度過了一個有意義的早晨！天空陰沉，儘管下雨，但這並沒有阻止我們「從教室到海岸線：NIM學生在海灘清理中掀起波瀾」的精神，我們的學生參加了由PAssion Wave@East Coast主辦的Blue Ripple社區服務，這是Blue Wave項目的一部分。

Arriving early in the morning at East Coast Park, our students first went through a briefing to understand the safety measures and purpose of the activity, they then proceeded to gear up and started right after the downpour. Despite being in raincoats in the humid weather, it was all smiles on their faces as they did their part in the clean up!

一大早抵達東海岸公園，我們的學生首先進行了一理論學習和簡報分享，以了解活動流程和目的，然後我們開始準備，並在傾盆大雨後立即開始。儘管在潮濕的天氣里穿著雨衣，但同學們在海灘打掃衛生時臉上都是笑容！

One of the key takeaways they have gotten through this activity is the importance of marine life and nature conservation! Just by reducing the act of littering and use of plastic, we reduce the effects of waste pollution in our beach, and from a wider perspective, we are doing a little part for our nature! Did you know that plastic entering the ocean can triple by 2040 if it is left unchecked as shared by a research article?

通過這次活動得到的一個重要收穫是知道了海洋生物和自然保護的重要性！僅僅通過減少亂扔垃圾和使用塑料的行為，我們就減少了海灘垃圾污染的影響，從更廣泛的角度來看，我們正在為我們的自然做一點貢獻！你知道嗎，一篇研究文章介紹過，如果不加以控制污染，到2040年，進入海洋的塑料可能會增加三倍？

Hear why our teacher chose this project:

Choosing Blue Ripple organized by PAssion Wave @ East Coast is a meaningful activity that will help our students appreciate the direction of the government policies and initiatives of protecting marine life. Project Blue WaVe also helps to bring out the innate character of students in ownership, social responsibility, organization and camaraderie, which is in line with NIM values on delivering student centric experiences and championing community services.
